Understanding Self-Defense Insurance

We are all familiar with how insurance policies work: auto, home, business, health. Most of us have at least one. But, really, do I need to spend more money on yet another "insurance policy"?

To clarify, self-defense insurance is not an insurance policy as we may think. It's a membership plan: like a gym membership. Membership benefits provide legal and financial protection to you in the event you are forced to defend yourself or another.

When evaluating your options, it is very important to understand your needs and how each company's benefits will meet those needs, or not.

First, you must assess what your potential legal risks might be. Do you carry a handgun for self-defense? Do you live in an area that is not gun friendly? Do you have the finances to support a legal defense against criminal charges or, will you be at the mercy of a public defender?

To quote Attorney Andrew Branca with Law of Self Defense, LOSD.com:

The goal is "Winning the Legal Fight".

And what does it take to win the legal fight?

Money and legal expertise.
